An Author's Reboot: Why I'm Temporarily Taking Down Zurkerx

Writing a book is something we all talk about, but not many take advantage of the opportunity to do so. It's not meant to be something easy to accomplish, easy to construct. It's supposed to be challenging but yet a fun experience where you can build your own world and share it with everyone.

But for indie authors like myself, it's never easy, especially for first time writers: we're going to make mistakes and wished we did things differently, such as seeking reviews, leaving a plot hole in the story, and maybe even misspelling a word. It's vital for first time authors like myself to gather information on how to be a better author, a writer, a marketer.

So, after listening to several people giving their input on my first book, I've decided to temporarily take down Zurkerx. While this was not an easy decision, especially when one has worked for three plus years on their book, it is ultimately the right call to do. I have two reasons for this:

First, the feedback given back to me has been crucial, input I simply could not ignore. For me to become a better writer and storyteller, I must be open to new ideas and respectful of constructive criticism. Essentially, what I was told was that while I've written a good story, I was simply only telling the world, and not fully building it. This is especially true in the first Chapter, the history section, where I've been told it's overwhelming and too much information. Needless to say, expect major revisions coming for a grander story!

Second, since publishing, I've learned of new sources that could help with my writing and publishing experiences. I've discovered places that will do reviews, which would strengthen the integrity of the book, something I neglected to do. I also must work to improve my website; all these challenges I'm ready to tackle!

For all of those that have read and gave feed back on my book, I want to say thank you: I greatly appreciate your time and I feel honored you would take the time to buy my book and read it. If anyone has any additional feedback, I'm all ears!

At the end of the day, I'm my own business; an author, and I must ensure that the material I produce is high quality for readers, especially for the genre I write in: Science Fiction. Don't worry folks: Zurkerx will be back in the Summer of 2020, and it'll be better than ever!
